First Lady June A. Conner, a licensed evangelist and third generation member of the Church of God in Christ; is a preacher, a teacher and a gifted musician. Her first religious training came from her parents Deacon John and Evangelist Christine Avent.  Her mother’s love of music prompted her to provide piano lessons that lead June to study music at Temple University. While there, she performed and recorded with the Philadelphia Orchestra and toured extensively each year throughout the United States with their prestigious Concert Choir. Additionally, Evangelist Conner has performed with the Opera Ebony Company, the Ambassadors Chorale of Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Ballet as well as the District, State and National choirs of the Church of God in Christ.

June A. Conner is a retired City of Philadelphia school music teacher and recipient of the Dr. Ruth Hayre award. She was given the distinction of being recognized as one of the top 100 teachers in Philadelphia in 2007, after 33 years of service.

Evangelist Conner works diligently in the New Beginnings church as a member of the ministerial staff, outreach ministries and the praise and worship team. She also operates as the musician for the West District Sunshine band, and as the Director of the West District Women’s Choir under the leadership of District Missionary Janis Ruise and Superintendent, Dr. Joseph A. Conner.

Evangelist Conner has interned at the Mayor’s Office of Faith Based Initiatives and as a Chaplain at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She is a recent graduate of Palmer Theological Seminary earning a Masters of Divinity degree.

She is thankful for the support of her family; husband Superintendent Dr. Joseph A. Conner, their daughter, Jasmin, an accomplished graphic design artist and son Joseph Jr., percussionist and A&R for Capital Records, both of North Hollywood California.
